Bench Mark Builders was created by Brent and Suzi Fortenberry, two individuals who were lucky enough to change vocations in mid-career to one centered around their number one passion, creating beautiful homes in beautiful communities. 

In 1995 Brent and Suzi moved to the Roanoke Valley and immediately fell in love with the natural beauty of the area.  It was in this environment that Bench Mark Builders was created.  Over the years, Bench Mark has developed and built successful communities as well as custom homes and renovations in the Roanoke area.  Bench Mark was named Builder of the Year in 2007 by the Roanoke Regional Homebuilders Association.

Homebuilding is not for the faint at heart.  It involves harnessing the talents and efforts of the many individuals who can conceptualize, design and craft those stacks of stone, brick, lumber and various other materials into a structure that will ultimately become “home”.  At Bench Mark, we are passionate about “getting it right”,  from designing a custom home that will exactly fit the needs of our client, then executing details that make the home look as though it has existed for 100 years, to adding technology that “future proofs” the home and finally using “green” materials and techniques that make the home healthy, efficient and of lasting value.

In 2006 they were joined by David Brammer, a long time building professional and native of the area.  David brought along the expertise to allow Bench Mark to tackle its most ambitious project, The Preserve at Two Ford.
